An Air India flight from Ukraine landed at the Delhi airport on Tuesday night.
Flight AI 1946 consisted mostly of students. The Indian embassy in Kiev had earlier asked students to leave the country temporarily amid escalating tensions in the region as President Putin said his regime would recognize two regions in eastern Ukraine, increasing tensions with the West.

There were at least 240 Indians on board the plane. Air India had announced that it would operate three flights between India and Ukraine on February 22, 24 and 26.
Most of the students studying medicine landed at Delhi airport. He was welcomed by his parents after an anxious wait in the arrivals lounge.
Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said in a tweet that Indians and students from different states are returning to Delhi from Ukraine.
