He was named in India’s squad for the 2018 Beneath-19 Cricket World Cup.
He made his A-list debut for India A v South Africa A within the quadrangle sequence on 27 August 2018. On the opening day of the 2018-2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy in September 2018, Mavi additionally scored a hat-trick for Uttar Pradesh towards Saurashtra.
He made his first-class debut for Uttar Pradesh in 2018-19 Ranji Trophy on November 1, 2018. On his debut for Ranji, Mavi received a 4 towards Goa in Kanpur as Uttar Pradesh beat Goa by simply 152. In his second prime class match towards Odisha, he clinched his first shot at 5 wickets. .

In January 2018, he was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders within the 2018 IPL public sale. He made his Twenty20 debut for the Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League 2018 on 14 April 2018.
In February 2022, it was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders within the public sale for the 2022 Indian Premier League match.
